Gram Gourav Pratisthan registered to ameliorate water scarcity conditions in Purandhar Block , Pune district. During severe drought of 1972, Shri Vilasrao Salunke, who was
a technocrat entrepreneur, started relief work in drought prone area. After the drought was over, GGP negotiated a barren piece of land of 16 hectares (40 Acres) from the Village Temple Trust of Naigaon village, from Purndhar Block. From 74 to 78 GGP demonstrated a successful model of Watershed Development. Through this demonstration it is proved that even in low rainfall area (400 mm) the rain water can be conserved and used for protective irrigation.
